Part Two

The teenagers awake in their beds the next morning completely unharmed. The last thing in their memories was the Jeep being flung off the edge of the service road cliff. Their clothes certainly reflect the dirt and possible wear and tear of people who suffered through tumbling down a cliff and being thrown through trees. Yet, no one is even bruised.

Even more curious than being alive and in their beds as if they'd crawled in themselves, every single one of the teenagers has developed superhuman strength and reflexes.

SETTING

A school day is a school day. Things must progress as usual. It may be in everyone's best interests to regroup and try to figure things out.

POSTING ORDER

Open posting order for the first round.

CRASH! CLANK! BANG!

Alice lurched upright in bed, heart racing and short of breath as she grappled with her sheets. For several seconds she didn’t know where she was or how she had gotten there, still gripped by the nightmare of her jeep going over a cliff. She could still feel herself flying through the air, could feel herself ricocheting off a tree. However, as her surroundings started to look familiar, she eased back down onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. ”Why the hell was Kayla in my dream? Or those other people.”

Groaning, she groped blindly for her phone with her left hand then froze when she realized that she had far greater range of motion than she should have…and no pain. Pulling her hand away from her nightstand, she held it in front of her face as if she’d never seen it, her brows furrowed. ”The ef…” Where the hell was her cast? Why didn’t her hand hurt?

Throwing back the tangled sheets, Alice swung her legs over the edge of the bed and levered herself into a sitting position only to pause again as she got a look at her sweatshirt. It was old and worn, sure, but now there were rips and dark, brownish stains in it that looked suspiciously like dried blood. Her shorts weren’t much better and as her dark eyes settled on her feet she realized that she was still wearing one of her flip flops.

The crash scene in her nightmare played on a loop in her mind as she flexed her left hand. The doctor had told her it would be weak once she got the cast taken off; at the moment it felt better than it had before she’d broken it. Hands a little shaky, Alice pushed up from the bed and kicked off the flip flop as she walked toward the full length mirror propped against wall by her closet. Taking a deep breath, she stepped in front of it and froze.

She looked like she was about to film a scene in a slasher flick before the fake blood was applied. Slowly she lifted a hand and ran her fingers along the flesh exposed by the tear over her belly. It was smooth and unmarked. As she looked away from the mirror and down at her now ruined favorite sweatshirt a flash of green caught her eye. Reaching up she combed a couple leaves out of her tangled hair and that, more than anything else, made her seriously question if her dream was a dream. If it wasn’t a dream…

She raced to the window and ripped open the curtains, squeaking as the fabric caught and the brackets popped out of the wall as if they were held there by little more than thumb tacks. The fixtures clattered to the ground and Alice hissed, shushing the inanimate object, even more rattled. Shoving the fallen curtain and rod under her bed, Alice peered out the window at the driveway and cursed. No Jeep.

”So if it wasn’t a dream…” That meant that her precious Jeep was in the bottom of a ravine just outside the quarry. ”ANd Kayla and the others were actually there.” Muttering a few choice words under her breath, she scrambled across her bed rather than go around it, reaching for her phone on the nightstand where it usually charged at night only to realize that it was probably with her Jeep. In its place was a disc-shaped blue crystal rimmed in gold. Her hand hovered over it for a second before she scooped it up.

They’d all found one after the cliff had collapsed. Five kids, five crystals, five colors. Again she was struck with the oddness of it. Of course it wasn’t nearly as odd as somehow surviving being ejected from an open-top Jeep as it tumbled down a ravine and into the forest below. Infinitely less strange than waking up from said accident in bed without a scratch on her.

Sitting on the edge of her bed, Alice turned the disc over and over, rubbing it with her fingers until her father knocked on her door. ”You up yet, baby girl?” Alice mumbled an incoherent reply and reached over to shove the coin in her bedside table drawer. ”When did you get home last night? Did you leave your Jeep at Cameron’s?” It wasn’t entirely unheard of that she just not feel like driving home from her cousin’s and walked or jogged home. At least there was that. ”Um, no. I drove it home. Sorry I stormed off last night.” How late had she even been? It hadn’t been full dark when they’d tore out of the quarry like a bat out of hell. Standing up, Alice hurried over to the door and opened it a crack, using it to shield her body.

”Is it not out there?” Her mind was racing, she couldn’t tell her dad what had happened last night. Hell, she didn’t even know what had happened last night. She sure as shit wasn’t about to tell him that she’d driven the Jeep off a cliff with four other people in it. Oh god! What happened to the others? Internally panicking, Alice watched as Ben’s scowled and started towards the stairs. Shutting the door she scrambled to get dressed and shoved her ruined clothes in her backpack. She barely looked at what she pulled on, a possibly clean pair of running shorts, a sports bra and a pale blue hoodie. Her hair was hastily combed and thrown up in a ponytail after removing another leaf and a small twig; she tied a galaxy print bandana over it for good measure since she didn't have the time to shower. No time for contacts either so she shoved her black wide-rim glasses on her face.

Tossing her backpack over her shoulder, Alice hurried out of her room and down the stairs, slowing as she reached the bottom and her dad came through the front door with his cell phone to his ear. She shoved her left arm into the pocket of her hoodie and stood at the bottom of the steps. ”Five-utah-mike-hotel-seven-one-nine. Yeah, it’s blue. Nope, the top’s off. Yeah, it’s my daughter’s. Alice Carvalho. Charlie-alpha-romeo-victor-lima-hotel-oscar.” He pulled the phone away from his face briefly. ”Baby girl, when was the last time you saw the jeep?”

”Um, I think it was around midnight? Maybe just after? I’m sorry dad!” Sorry for lying. God this was awful. Of all the people she never wanted to disappoint, her stepfather was at the top of the list. The two of them went together like grease stains on coveralls. As much as she did try to appease her mother, she’d already accepted that she was going to be a massive disappointment to the woman. Ben was different; he just let Alice exist, didn’t push her to do anything in particular but still managed to encourage her in what she did enjoy. He was the whole reason she was seriously considering going to school for engineering and physics.

”It’s alright, baby. Why don’t you call Cameron for a ride to school while I finish filing the report? Yes sorry ma’am. Of course I’ll stay put until they get here.” Still on the phone, Alice’s dad gave her a one arm hug, kissed her on the head, then held the front door open. As Cameron lived a few blocks away it wasn’t uncommon for them to walk to each other’s houses. Sometimes they even carpooled. God, what was she going to tell Cameron.

Feeling like absolute crap for lying her dad, freaked out by the fact that she’d apparently defied death, a bit panicked over the fact that she might have killed four other people and just all around frazzled, Alice started towards her cousin’s house. She knew that if she caught him early enough he’d give her a ride. But if she got a ride from him he’d want to talk...what would she even tell him? Hey I might have just killed that girl that lives next door that you’re obsessed with? Yeah that would go over real well. What she needed to do was figure out what the hell had happened last night before any of her family did. They were going to find out about the Jeep eventually but until then she at least needed to make sure she wasn’t a murderer.

Changing directions, she doubled back to the house and slipped into the garage. Ben gave her a questioning look and she was able to genuinely look a bit sheepish. ”My phone was in the car. I’ll just take my bike.” At least that wasn’t a lie. Her phone had been in her car. It was probably smashed to bits in the bottom of the ravine with her jeep. Pausing, Alice felt a lump get lodged in her throat and tears prickled at her eyes. Before she knew it, she was being crushed by two familiar arms as her dad swept her up in a hug.

”Hey, they’ll find it. Just go to school and don’t worry about it. We’ll worry about getting you a new phone this weekend. I think your mom got some sort of protection plan on the thing.” Giving Alice a squeeze, Ben gave her a nudge and sent her off to her bike. Alice managed to steer it toward the street with one hand and waited until her dad wasn’t looking before she pulled her hand out of her pocket, frowning when it brushed against something cool. Wrapping her fingers around it she pulled it out and frowned at it before shoving it back in her pocket and setting off to the school.

When she arrived, she did her best to avoid her cousin and scanned the other students for a familiar face or two. If she wasn’t mistaken at least one of the boys was scientifically inclined and might be prone to taking a summer science program held by the school’s new science teacher. Keeping her left hand inside her pocket she began nervously turning the coin over and over again.

A blood-curdling scream rang through the empty house. A medium, white, fluff of a dog came running into the room crying and whining to know why his girl was screaming.

Mickayla bolted straight up, tears in her eyes as she tried to catch her breath. The blonde's breathing was frantic and her heart was pounding. The last thing she remembered was the Jeep flying off the cliff...Bodies...Alice and this redhead girl she'd never met before...Their bodies flew out of the car. Mickayla hugged her knees, squeezing her eyes shut as her dog hopped up on the bed to nuzzle her arms.

Flashes of the cliff moving further and further away in what seemed like slow motion. All sense of direction was lost as the Jeep flipped front over backward. The front of the car smashed into the rock, activating the airbags, slamming the air out of the blonde's lungs. Her head whipped back and glass flew everywhere. The nightmare didn't end there. Mickayla remembered barely seeing the jagged rocks coming at them as the vehicle turned over. The top of the jeep was down...There was nothing stopping the ground and the horrible crunching--

Mickayla opened her eyes, gasping for air as panic took over. Her only comfort was found was in Niko nuzzling her head incessantly. The blonde reached a shaky hand out to stroke the long, soft hairs of the American Eskimo Dog. "I'm--" Kayla's voice broke as she choked down the lump in her throat, "I'm okay," the blonde assured her dog, completely unconvinced as she thought about how she was probably remembering her own death. Except...she wasn't dead.

Mickayla slowly crept out of her bed, untangling herself from the twisted blankets and letting Niko hop down. It was at that point, Mickayla's heart dropped yet again. She was still in the same outfit as the previous night. When she'd got out running. When she ran through a quarry to answer a distress cry. Right before these horrible memories of driving off a cliff. And yet, not a single scratch was on her skin. Her shirt and shorts had a few cuts in them. Dried blood specks were visible on the light gray tank top and pink sports bra. She was covered in dirt and there were random pieces of gravel in her hair and clothes.

It was bittersweet, to have no one home on that day. It wasn't uncommon for her parents to take impromptu trips without telling anybody. As for her sister and grandma, they probably went out for a day trip knowing that Mickayla had summer school. In reality, the blonde was in no condition to even go that morning. She was pretty sure she was in shock. And this never happened. Mickayla was usually the first one to take a situation and turn straight to aggression. Then again, how many times had Mickayla died before then?

As she got up to get washed up, Mickayla noted how nothing was wrong with her. Despite looking like she picked a losing fight with said mountain, there wasn't so much as a bruise on her skin. Out of the corner of her eye, Mickayla noticed the small gold and pink coin sitting innocently on the edge of her vanity table. Staring wide-eyed at the coin that absolutely confirmed the reality of her memories, Mickayla took a seat and flipped the switch to turn on the custom light fixtures around her mirrors. The cool white light of the frosted LED's allowed Kayla to really get a look at the coin in her hand. It wasn't like anything the blonde had ever seen before.

Making Mickayla yelp again, her arm started vibrating and loudly screeching from right next to her. God, her nerves were high. She was on edge. She'd forgotten that her phone was in her running armband. She was so startled and in a hurry that she actually tore the vinyl and cloth right off her arm. In an attempt to loosen the strap, hand pinning down the coin onto the vanity.

What?!

Blaming nerves, Kayla gently removed the phone from the torn up band and turned off the alarm. For the sake of...testing reality, it was best she went to school. If anything, she recognized at least two people from the small group of teenagers from the quarry.

Moving rather quickly and anxiously, Mickayla had just thrown an outfit together and did very little in terms of makeup that day. Just enough to not look like a crazy person. A bit abnormally, that morning, Mickayla caught a ride with some of her friends. Normally, she would drive herself. That morning, though. She wasn't in the right state of mind to be driving herself. She was too busy spacing out every few minutes. It probably had something to do with the coin that somehow ended up in her jean pocket after explicitly leaving it on the vanity...

Once at school, Mickayla did her best to act normal. But in reality, the moment she saw anyone from the quarry, she was going to have to ask them about that night. Even if she was turning out to be crazy, it was all too real to all have been a hallucination, right?

Benny quickly sat up in bed. His heart rating was beating fast. A cold sweat rolled down his back. It took a moment for Benny to take in his surroundings. He was in his room. It was all just a dream. He flopped back down on his bed. His hands unclenched his bed sheets. He didn't even realized he clenching them. Those stupid lucid dreams were you couldn't tell if it was a dream or you actually lived it. It truly felt like Benny was in the Jeep tumbling down the cliff. It was unreal.

But something wasn't right. It was a nagging feeling. Benny did remember going to the quarry. He did remember coming across other people there. He did remember getting into the Jeep that belonged to the girl with the cast. He did remember speeding away from the cops. And the Jeep going over the cliff. So, it couldn't of been a dream. But Benny had no memory of getting home.

Benny got out of bed. It was then he realized he was still wearing the clothes he wore yesterday. His clothes were dirty, had rips and dark stains. Benny reached for his glasses. His glasses were all banged up. They looked like someone stomped all over them.

A knock on the door made him jump. It was his mom making sure Benny was up. "I'm up. I'm coming." Benny called out. He had to get himself cleaned up before his mother or grandmother saw him. He found that only his his clothes were dirty. He, himself, was totally fine. Not a scratch in sight.

In the process of changing clothes something fell out one of his pockets. Benny picked up the object. It was the gem stone coin thing. Did that mean Benny actually lived through a bad Jeep crash? The only way to know for certain was to find the others.

Benny quickly finished getting.dressed and was unaware that his buttons was off by one. He pocketed the coin again. Benny was glad he had a second pair of glasses in his dresser.

When he arrived at school, Benny's eyes were on the search for the others at the quarry. He had a million questions to ask. And he was pretty sure the others were going to be asking a lot of questions as well.

Benny is wearing a yellow button down with cargo shorts and sneakers.

She was weightless—just for a moment, but that moment, that blink of an eye, seemed to last forever. Hayden clung to the roll bar of the blue Jeep with one arm as the air rushed by her, the other arm still stretched out across the two boys beside her on the bench seat. They were moving backwards, fast, and she could see the edge of the cliff retreating above them, a shower of rocks and dust following them down to…

And that’s where the slow motion stopped, just as she turned her head. The trees and ground below rushed up from behind, and that weightlessness was lost. There was a deafening sound, like a screech and a roar all at once as metal collapsed, the back end of the Jeep catching on a protrusion of the cliff and turning it upside down, and another—the gunshot crack of breaking bone, heard within and without as the impact hurled her forward and her hooked elbow lost the battle against the Jeep’s sturdy frame. Her body had gone sideways, hitting the front seats before getting spit out through the top, and her the back of her head struck something solid and hard.

Everything was black. Silent. A terrifying nothing.

Then, slowly building out of that nothing, came a long, high tone. Ringing, screaming into her conscience, the sound grew to an unbearable crescendo, its vibrations nearly as painful as its piercing scream.

The girl’s eyes shot open, and the sound stopped so suddenly that it left her dazed and blinking through a haze of numbness. As her senses wander in, Hayden became aware of something wet and cold touching her face, her vision clearing only to be engulfed in coppery red. The familiar sounds of snuffles and whines registered as the cold, soft nose of her setter invaded every bit of her face available. The girl gave a quiet groan and stretched, and the dog’s excitement took over as he threw his body into hers, rolling onto his back and kicking.

“Ugh, Cliff, why?” Hayden protested, squeezing her eyes shut as the setter’s large head pressed against her face and rubbed itself in affectionately. With another groan, the girl rolled away from her dog, letting him flail against her back as she gave in with feinted exasperation. “Fine. Fine! Okay, I’m up!”

Sitting up at the edge of her bed, Hayden rubbed at her face, taking a moment to clear her head. The dog scrambled himself up, and the girl leaned to the side to give him more room to get down, but, instead, with wiggling glee, Cliff jumped up against her back, his front paws hooking in front of her chest, and started licking the side of her face with fervor uncharacteristic even for his excitable self.

“Jeez, Cliff,” Hayden protested, lifting her hand to push him away. “What’s gotten into y—“ The girl’s words cut off as, coming out of her fog, she realized she was holding on to something. As Cliff nuzzled against her cheek with surprising force, Hayden was unmoved, her eyes wide as she open her hand to see…

“What!?” She stood suddenly, her dog giving a yelp of surprise as he tumbled back to the bed and fell ungracefully to the floor. Hayden hardly registered the wriggling mess as he scrambled back to his feet and started bouncing around her legs, however, as her focus was on the small, round object in her hand.

The…coin? A red gem rimmed in gold, encased in a strangely etched layer of crystal—it was the very same object from her dream, the one she had found at the quarry with… Who were they? It hadn’t made sense to dream up complete strangers in such detail, but... No. How was this possible? If they weren’t figments of her imagination, if this thing was real, then…then they were all dead. She should have been dead. People couldn’t survive a crash like that…

Tearing her eyes away from the object in her hand, Hayden looked across her room to the mirrored doors of her closet, her breath catching in her throat as she caught sight of herself. Still in her climbing gear, she looked like she had come straight out of a slasher thriller, the material all but shredded against her body and her hair in absolute disarray. The reds and whites she wore were stained in a deep, rusty brown, her climbing harness dangling from her waist and barely intact. But...she was otherwise fine. No cuts, no bruises, no broken arm or neck or...anything. For a moment, she was frozen, and even Cliff had settled down to sit beside her, looking up at her with his tail wagging furiously along the carpet and a steady stream of whines issuing from his panting mouth, but then, with sudden, deliberate movements, the girl crossed to her closet and slid the mirrored door open—only to have the sturdy door break off its track and crash into the far end of the frame with enough force to shatter the mirror and leave a gouge in the wood.

Blinking at the mess of shards on the floor, Hayden stalled for only a moment before quickly grabbing a couple things from her closet and stepping over the slivers of mirror to her dresser to pull out the rest. “Out,” she told Cliff as she crossed swiftly to her bedroom door, grabbing up her backpack and opening the door a little too quickly, taking the doorknob off in the process. The dog darted out, and Hayden tossed the doorknob to the floor before exiting to the hall and carefully closing the door behind her. She had no clue what was going on, but… The others—she needed to talk to them. If they were still alive…

After a very carefully conducted shower—she almost snapped the knob off the faucet, too, and that was enough to have her moving as if everything was made of rice paper—Hayden dressed, throwing her mangled clothes from the night before into her backpack. The last thing she needed was her dad’s cleaning lady to see a bloody mess of rags and call him at work before she could even figure out what was happening herself. The shattered mirror was bad enough as it was, but she would worry about that later.

Running down the stairs to the foyer, Hayden made a quick detour to the back door to let Cliff into the yard, cursing herself already for leaving him out there while she went to school. But…she really didn’t have time to wait around while he did his business. As it was, the girl was chancing a rather heated argument as she grabbed her dad’s keys to the Porsche and jogged out to the garage. She could say she missed the bus—she didn’t want to bother him at work. It was a one-time thing, and she’d never take the car without his permission again. Oh, god, she was going to be in a lot of trouble. But… Later. She would worry about that later.

Leaving her driveway in a hurry, Hayden was well aware she was driving too fast on the quiet suburban streets, but she didn’t slow down until she got into town where the chances of running into a police officer were doubled. Pulling into the school parking lot, Hayden took a spot close to the building, grabbed up her backpack, locked the doors with a chirp from the car, and jogged through the front doors. She stopped just inside the main entrance, and, noticing a few strange looks from the school secretaries, checked herself in the reflection of the large glass panels which bordered the main office. Panicked and wide eyed, she looked like a deer in the headlights—enough to cause anyone a little alarm.

Taking a long, deep breath, Hayden forced a smile on her face and gave the ladies a wave before taking off at a brisk pace for the science wing. The dark-haired girl from the drea— the night before, Hayden was pretty sure she’d seen her in the hall once last week. And, if she remembered correctly, that girl had been familiar with the blonde. It was at least a decent place to start looking for answers.

Part Two

Drawn together in a shared purpose, our five fated teenagers seek to unite at Angel Grove High School. The first to arrive on-scene is Alice Carvalho, her attention drawn toward the science wing in search for the somewhat familiar boy from the night before. However, before she can find the bespectacled boy, she catches sight of the red-haired--the new girl her cousin was obsessed with, the redhead from the cliffs.

As the two girls notice one another, Mickayla Barnes rounds the corner into the wing, her searching eyes easily spotting the familiar Alice and the redhead from the night before. Not far behind her, Benjamin Lawson approaches the same hall, his attention caught by the sight of the three girls from the quarry.

Alice wasn’t sure what she was expecting exactly, maybe to show up at the summer science program and find the other four at the school. They’d laugh at her like she’d gone crazy and she could write it off to some weirdly lucid dream. She could throw away the clothing and let everyone believe someone had stolen her Jeep and just never think about it again. All the stress and trauma from having her social circle ostracize her had finally gotten to her, that had to be it. That would be easier to accept than the truth...whatever that was.

It was the redhead she saw first, the one that had been rock climbing at the quarry. The one who had jumped into the back seat with the others. Alice stared for several seconds, taking in the other girl’s appearance as dread began to leach the warmth from the air around her. The girl looked like shit; pale and a bit messy. Alice was sure that if she dared look in a mirror, she’d have that same wide-eyed, apprehensive expression on her own face.

Cameron was still grumbling about criminals and car thieves when Alive excused herself abruptly and hurried toward the redhead, reaching out to grab hold of her forearm. It was as she did this that she noticed Mikayla round the corner and blinked. There was no denying what had happened the night before. Her Jeep had wrecked, was probably a mangled heap at the bottom of a ravine and yet somehow they were alive. Clenching her teeth, Alice blinked away the tears that were trying to form in her eyes as the reality of it all finally crashed down on her.

”What the hell happened last night?” Alice’s voice came out strained and hoarse as she forced it past the lump in her throat.

Hayden stopped in her tracks the moment she caught sight of the dark-haired girl in the hall. Not dead—good. A breath she hadn’t known she was holding in escaped in a relieved sigh, but the alarm was back in her expression as she realized who the girl was with, and who the girl was. Last night, with everything going on, Hayden hadn’t recognized her, but, seeing her there with Kind of Slutty, it was definitely the same girl from the open window bedroom exhibition. The redhead was already quickly flattening herself against the wall behind a row of lockers, out of sight in the barely populated hall, when a hand clasped her forearm. Hayden pulled the girl behind the lockers with her, glancing around the corner to make sure Whats-His-Face—Cameron—hadn’t followed her. She really didn’t need him to add to the stress right now.

But Kind of Slutty was still where the dark-haired girl had left him, apparently occupied. Retreating behind the cover of the lockers once again, Hayden’s attention snapped back to the girl who had her hand latched around the redhead’s forearm—the hand, Hayden noted, which had been bound in a hard cast just last night. At the girl’s tense questions, Hayden’s free hand fished into her back pocket, withdrawing to hold up the red and gold going between them.

“Everything,” Hayden answered, more sure now than had been a moment before. While she was tossing her closet door around like it was made of rice paper and ripping off door handles just trying to get out of her room, this girl was missing her cast and somehow all the stronger for it.

Looking past the dark-haired girl, Hayden saw the blonde from the quarry and, just behind her, the boy with glasses. They wore that same look—the “we need talk” expression—even before their eyes met hers. Giving a quick glance behind her, Hayden peered through the narrow window of a classroom door, finding it dark and empty. Shaking off the hand around her forearm, Hayden reached for the doorknob and cracked the door open, giving a pointed look over her shoulder to the other three as she slipped inside.

They needed to talk, but they sure as hell didn’t need to be overheard.

This day was a nightmare. Mickayla's mind was a thousand miles away. It wasn't until she heard the slight pop of crumbling aluminum under her fingers that Mickayla's focus brought her back to reality. There was a good dent in her friend's door right in the spot where Mickayla had pushed the edge to close it. "Dude, your door...It just..." The blonde frowned, looking at the distorted metal. Her friend might have had a minor freak out but Mickayla just didn't have the will to fight this. She was having a crisis! The blonde just kept her head down and offered to pay the repairs. It seemed to satisfy the oncoming fit...

That morning, Mickayla had twisted the knobs off the school bathroom sink, pulled the paper towel dispenser right off the wall, and broke the handle off the freaking door. Her locker was missing the door...Well, it was very carefully propped up so no one would see it right away.

The blonde was all but tearing down the hallways as she walked, keeping an eye out for literally any one from the night before. She flashed a smile a few times, getting the typical 'another day' greeting from a couple other students. Finally, catching sight of the red head from the night before, Mickayla met her gaze with a wide-eyed look, eyebrows knitting together as she saw that she was not only alive but not mangled from the fall either. Slowing her pace, Mickayla followed into the classroom with as much casual control as she could manage.

"So..." Mickayla breathed as others filed in after her. She reached into her pocket and pulled out the coin, keeping it habitually hidden in her palm by this point.

Benny arrived at school without anything else weird happening. He arrived at his locker. He turned the dial and lifted the latch. The entire door came off its hinges. Benny held the locker door as he checked the hallway. No one was around. No one saw him take the door off. He rested the door against the locker so it kind of looked like it was still in place. He scurried away quickly.

Benny headed to the science wing of the school when something got his attention. Although it was more like someone. it was her! The blond girl Benny crossed paths with at the quarry. Before everything went down hill.

He followed after her. He checked the classroom to make sure there wasn't a class. There was no class but the other two girls from last night. Benny entered the room. "Last night really happened then," Benny looked to each girl. Since they were all gathering it must of happened.

Carly had been eyeing him up in math class every day for like a week now. Seriously, she just wouldn’t leave him alone. Ryan had a hard enough time focusing on math as is but it didn’t help to have those pretty blue eyes staring at him the whole class period. He tried to resit her, he really did. He was suddenly a little self-conscious about that “reputation” he apparently had. The problem was, however, a guy like Ryan couldn’t change overnight. Old habits died hard…and he was a seventeen year old with a lot of hormones. It was a normal thing.

Needless to say, he just couldn’t hold out forever. Admittedly, he had arrived at school that morning in hopes of running into a certain cheerleader…unfortunately, Carly was the first person he happened to run into. She had this look in her eyes that almost seemed to imply she had stumbled across the juiciest piece of meat at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Within seconds her face was attached to his and she was pushing him towards the nearest classroom. Ryan certainly hadn’t expected this to happen but, if he were being honest, he wasn’t mad about it either.

As she pushed him closer to the door Ryan reached behind him with his hand, fiddling with the door knob. It only took him a moment to turn the knob and send the door flying open - it wasn’t like this was the first time he’d done something like this at school. He was probably a professional at this point. Not to mention, given the fact that his mom was the vice principal, it wasn’t too difficult to get access to the list of what class rooms were empty during what times of the day. It was really handy, honestly.

What the football star hadn’t accounted for was the possibility of there being other people in the classroom. With his back turned to them, Riley honestly didn’t even notice at first. Carly was the one to realize they had an audience. ”Um…Ry-Ry. I think we picked the wrong room,” she said, pulling away from him.

Ryan was a little breathless and confused. ”What the fuck did you just call me?” he questioned. Ry-Ry? What the hell was a Ry-Ry? Some kind of bread? He was more concerned by that than he was the fact they were putting on a show for someone. After a moment of processing all of that he finally turned to see what Carly was talking about. What he saw was enough to make his jaw drop. Standing there in the room was the strangest group of individuals he had ever seen. ”What the-“ he began, unable to finish the sentence.

First, there was the new girl he had met earlier in the summer with the cool dog. Then there was Benny, the kid who his mom had probably forced into tutoring him. Followed by him there was Cameron’s cousin, Alice. Finally, the icing on the cake…Mickayla. The last person he would have wanted to run into at that moment. Alone, it wasn’t weird to see any of these people. All of them gathered together in a classroom, however, was really freaking weird. It was like the start of some terrible joke. ”A hot redhead, my math tutor, the school slut, and the girl of my dreams walk into a bar…” he thought to himself.

Wait. Mickayla was here. Shit. This wasn’t good. Not at all. He ran a hand through his hair, trying not to look as nervous as he felt. ”Oh, hey guys. Mickayla, looking good as always… Um…I’m not sure why all of you are in here. This isn’t some kind of weird orgy or something right? Actually, I don’t want to know. I’m just going to um…walk away now…” he said, turning towards the door. Carly tried to follow him. ”Actually, no…not with you. Sorry. It’s just…yeah. Okay, later…”

With one final, confused glance back at the group of teens, he walked out of the classroom. He didn’t know what was gong on in there but it was definitely going against the status quo. These people didn’t talk to each other. It wasn’t normal. He was fairly certain he would spend the rest of the day feeling very unsettled. He had also just turned down a hot makeup session. What the hell was wrong with him? Maybe he needed to go visit the school counselor…

”It’s fine. This is fine…”

The automatic lights flickered and came to life as the four teenagers filed into the quiet, vacant classroom. They were all so unsure—shocked—and, for a moment, all they could do was look at each other with a uniform expression that read, “Thank God we’re alive.” Having volunteered on the fire department back home for the last couple years, Hayden knew the expression well, and it was clear she wasn’t the only one who had feared the worst for the others involved in the fiasco last night.

Awkward silence was broken by a couple of unsure and disbelieving statements from the blonde and the boy with glasses, and Hayden nodded in response. She took a deep breath, wondering what even to say, knowing something should be said, but…

The redhead’s attention snapped to the classroom door as it suddenly flung open, her wide eyes pinned with surprise on the entangled couple that all be fell through the open doorway as they backed themselves in. Hayden slipped her hand and the coin casually behind her back and, like everyone else, just stared. It only took a moment for her to recognize the boy—the first person she had met in Angel Grove, Ryan Something—but she had no clue who the girl was, and she just kind of wished they would hurry up and leave, because this was a private gathering. However, they seemed completely unaware of the captive—captive in the worst way, because it she was pretty sure nobody wanted to be seeing that—audience until the girl looked passed Ryan and detached her face long enough to tell him they had picked the wrong room.

Ryan didn’t turn around immediately, but, when he did, his blank expression was met by a tight-lipped smile from the redhead, a building impatience with everything that morning only being tested by the intrusion of that ridiculous boy. What next? Was Kind of Slutty going to wander in looking for his girlfriend?

Hayden’s brown furrowed, eyes blinking and lips pursing in a mixture of confusion and offense as Ryan asked them if he had wandered into “some kind of weird orgy”, a part of her just wanting to know why that would be the first assumption he would make, but…The boy quickly excused himself and left, the girl, after a moment of shattered hopes holding her in place with a look of indignant shock, rushed out the door in his wake, her piercing shriek of, ”RYAN REESE, YOU GET BACK HERE!” dulled as the door clicked shut behind her.

With one interruption already, Hayden felt a bit of a rush settle in. Clearly, the school wasn’t the greatest place to do this, but…“Does anybody else have a car?” Hayden’s focus broke from the closed doorway to glance down to her hand as she pulled out the coin once more before panning her gaze around the small group, noticing the absence of one. The boy who had dropped his phone was the only one missing, but…maybe one of the others had an idea of where he could be. For now, it was best to get things moving. “I don’t think we should talk about this here. Maybe we should go back?”

Alice was mostly silent as everyone piled into an empty classroom. Despite the fact that she was glad that everyone seemed to have survived, the fact that everyone else was just as freaked out as she was was only making her anxiety grow. Her jeep was gone and nothing made sense. As she was trying to make sense of it all, the door swung up and Alice turned, startled. Dark eyes that had widened with shock quickly narrowed with annoyance and incredulity as she instantly recognized the figure of Mr Football star himself. He seemed to be engaged in some sort of oral competitive sport with a particularly dense blond.

She still wasn’t pleased with how he’d decided to bro it up with her ex and buy into the lies swirling about the school. Growing up together, one would assume that the benefit of the doubt would be given. Not to mention she was probably one of the few cheerleaders who adamantly refused any of his advances. Of course she was no longer a cheerleader but the fact still remained....Ryan Reese was more of a ho than she would ever be.

”Yeah, we should go back.” She really didn’t want to see what was left of her jeep, but she did want to figure out what the hell was going on with her. ”I can grab Cameron’s keys. Hopefully he won’t ask too many questions. Wait for me out in the parking lot.”

Slipping out of the classroom she went to find her cousin, glad that the summer class hadn’t quite started yet. Begging for his keys for “girl troubles” she hurried down the hall to catch up with the others. Hopefully they were already on their way.

Everything was bad enough that morning. Between breaking and bending everything in her path at the school, remembering what should have been a deadly car crash, and now trying to figure things out with an extremely odd array of students...Mickayla was about ready to punch something, to be honest. She was afraid of it all and that was turning into some kind of aggression that she never really needed before. She'd never been a pushover kind of girl but not once had something this surreal ever happened to her. Scarier yet, Kayla still had no idea what was actually happening to her or the others.

That next moment, the door burst open to reveal a couple, obviously too intertwined to even notice where they were. With a subtle motion, Mickayla put the coin back into her pocket, moving over to lean on the nearest empty desk. After refusing to even give Ryan's propositions a second thought for years, this whole encounter was so horribly irritating. Yet another girl selling their dignity to simply touch Ryan Reese. Not that he wasn't making it exceptionally easy for those girls. Ugh.

This whole 'show' was an annoying, but not rare occurrence to see around the school. But it was especially unwanted on this day of all days. As soon as she saw who was trying to get down the girl's throat with his tongue, however, Mickayla's eyes about rolled out of her skull. As if it all wasn't so perfect already. Ryan Reese was back to his manwhore ways... But then again, did he ever really stop? After their interaction that other day there had been some hope that maybe she might have given a new perspective. One that would possibly let Kayla actually want to socialize with him on occasions where she wasn't getting run over on a forest trail. The blonde shot Ryan an overly pleasant smile, "Ry-Ry," she greeted back with the most sugar, sweet voice she could possibly make. If that reaction didn't shout the most sarcastic 'it's fine' in the world, she didn't know what would.

Mickayla wasn't even going to pretend to find solace in Ryan's refusal to take the girl with her. There was way too much going on at once.

"No idea what we're trying to find but yeah, sticking around here is a bad choice," Kayla nodded, pushing herself back to stand square on her feet, unknowingly leaving indentations in the plastic-coated, particle wood desk with her fingers. Had she been a little upset earlier watching Ryan suck faces with that other girl? Maybe. Possibly.

Mickayla was more than okay with Alice being able to find a car. She hadn't driven herself so it would be pretty useless to say anything. Kayla wasn't far behind the brunette, trying not to draw attention by following closely behind. She was making a beeline for the parking lot, instead.
