This had to have been one of the stupidest schemes she had ever gotten herself mixed up in. I mean honestly, who the hell concocted these sorts of arrangements? The answer was the Dean of Angel Grove High School who apparently harbored a grudge against not only half the delinquent population, but Analeis Dawson as well. It was some time last week that this ordeal had begun when Mister Dawson received a phone call from the campus inquiring about the necessary avenues they needed to take in order for students to visit the location and while the whole thing seemed innocent at first, it quickly spiraled into something much more sinister. Analeis had little warning before she was being asked – no, demanded – to escort one of the local football players around the quarry as a part of their newly designed hometown education project. Of course she was supposed to keep quiet about the identity of this mysterious star athlete since assignment was going to be a key factor in him passing summer school, something which was a scandal in itself. It if had been any other person she supposed that their name would not have mattered, but clearly something had an image to uphold and her father, as innocent as he was in all of this, happily volunteered Analeis for the position without consenting her.

A small sigh escaped a pair of pale lips as the female in question her pearl white Honda Civic came pulled up to the employee entrance at Angel Grove Quarry, she muting the radio as not to draw too much attention. The area looked nearly abandoned to the unobservant, but she knew well that someone would be waiting her at the booth – and waiting they were. ”Analeis! I wasn’t expect you to show up today,” a cheerful voice exclaimed once she rolled down the window. The owner of the voice was a gentleman in his early twenties who had been assigned the very glamorous position of ‘check-in servant’ as they often joked and he was, obviously, very excited to see someone other than his darling coworkers. ”Are you looking for your father? I think he’s down in sector eight if you would like me to radio the commander.” Analeis could not help but to smile at the happy attitude that the male exuded and, for a moment, she thought that maybe this trip would not be so awful. After all, if she was really annoyed by her unwilling guest then she could at least radio in and request that he be extracted from her car… right? ”As wonderful as that would be, Jake, I’m actually here to give a tour of the low level sector to one of my classmates. Has Ryan Reese checked in with you by any chance?”

The male muttered something about not seeing anyone out of the ordinary and asked her to wait for a moment, he turning to the computer on his left and typing something into the system. There were a few beeps from the monitor and static from the radio; nonetheless after a moment it was confirmed. ”It looks like he hasn’t arrived yet, but if you want I can check you in now and send him over to the employee parking lot when he arrives. He can park up here in the guest sector and job down to you as a bit of extra punishment if only for your pleasure – plus then I won’t have to worry about you two roaming off!” At this point Analeis was struggling to hold back her laughter and she did so with grace by opting to nod along with the suggestion. It was clear that this impromptu visit had livened up the male’s day at the very least and, as quickly as he could, the proper documentation was passed through the tinted windows of the car: two visitor passes for the teenagers and a parking plague to mark the car as ‘clear’ for any confused employees.

It seemed the comfortable silence of shuffling papers could not remain such though as a radio in the air conditioned booth suddenly burst to life with a voice inquiry as to whether not sector five had been cleared. A look of confusion crossed the female as she wondered what had happened especially given that the area had yet to be clear by her father for demolition. ”There was an accident of sorts over there last week,” the male immediately cut in, his hands moving to turn down the volume on the pesky device. ”A part of the cliff suddenly gave way like it had been detonated and then we found some girl’s Jeep crashed a few miles down the road. We’re not sure if the events are connected, but they’re supposed to start clean up today.” It was clear from his shaky movements that Jake was had not been cleared to share these details with anyone and yet here he was, blabbering away like she was his superior. Analeis sometimes wondered just what went on in his head. ”Anyways, you’re all set for the day. We have shift change at five o’clock, so make sure that you’ve check out by then.”

Analeis offered him a soft smile and reassurance that she would avoid the area all together before moving to roll through the now open security gates and down towards the designated lot. She was not sure what had happened in the quarry, but one thing was sure – she was going to find out one way or another.

Summer school just seemed to keep getting worse and worse for Ryan Reese. It wasn’t bad enough that he was in summer school, for starters, or that his mom had decide to recruit a tutor for him. Oh no, now he was being forced to study a bunch of stupid rocks and he had to have a babysitter to boot. Why did these sorts of things happen to him anyway? He was a good guy with really good looks. He didn’t deserve a horrible fate like this. What did he need to do to shake this streak of bad luck? Offer a hobo a burger or something?

One of his teachers had decided it would be beneficial for him to do a project that taught him the value of the history of his hometown. What better place was filled with local history than the quarry just outside of town? That had been the thoughts of his teacher and the next thing Ryan knew he was being assigned a ‘tour guide’ to show him the areas of the quarry that would help him to be able to complete his project. So basically, someone to make sure he didn’t run off into a restricted area and get himself into trouble or something like that.

The girl that had been assigned to help him wasn’t even someone that Ryan really knew. Analeis Dawson was a face he had seen around school many times but never one he had spoken to much. She was probably one of those really smart kids who would think she was much better than Ryan because she wasn’t stuck in summer school just to ensure she would be able to graduate. It was a big assumption to make right off the bat, but Ryan couldn’t let himself get his hopes up about the situation. He was fairly convinced that nothing good was going to come out of this.

Regardless of how Ryan felt about the situation, he was still stuck in it. It was with great reluctance that he headed out to the quarry early that afternoon. Upon arriving, he was stopped by the security guard whom, upon explaining who he was and why he was there, directed him to a guest parking area. From there, he was told to head down to another parking area to meet Analeis, who was already waiting. Why he couldn’t have just gone straight down there, Ryan didn’t really understand, but whatever.

As he approached the area, he quickly picked out the girl he had seen roaming the halls of Angel Grove High. At least she wasn’t half bad to look at. Imagine if he had been stuck with Benny as his tour guide for this project - nothing against his math tutor of course, but obviously Ryan would much rather be in the company of a pretty lady. Of course, if he remembered correctly, his teacher had just been ecstatic because Analeis’s father worked out at the quarry which is how the school had managed to even set this up. He wondered how many other poor suckers were going to be stuck dealing with this project.

He threw up his hand in a wave as he got close to her. ”Analeis, right? Looks like you get the honors of being my babysitter for the day. Trust me, I’m just as excited about all of this as you surely are,” he greeted. Actually, maybe she really was excited about this. What female wouldn’t want the opportunity to spend some quality time with him? He didn’t really know a lot about her. It was very possible she was one of those girls who had a secret crush on him and a shrine of him set up in her room. That may sound absurd to some people but Ryan had actually encountered a girl in his class where this was true. He couldn’t have gotten out there fast enough. ”This is going to sound kind of weird and really arrogant of me but before we get too far into this…you don’t have any creepy shrines of me in your room or something, right?” he asked. Might as well clear the air about that right off the bat, right?

The female paid little mind to the various employees that passed her in the employee parking lot, she keeping herself occupied by mindlessly counting the colorful vehicles that surrounded her as she waited for her ‘partner in crime’. The closest stalls were filled with those that had off-road features as she expected, but what seemed interesting to her was the fact that the overflow parking lot was also dotted with the same type of cars. It was a clear indication that more employees had been called in today and, if her assumption was correct, it had something to do with the mysterious explosion in sector five. She made a mental note to ask her father about the incident later that night because her attention was about to be wholly occupied by one star football player - joy.

While she was not necessarily excited to be escorting him around the quarry, Analeis took temporary solace in the fact that Ryan Reese was under her complete control starting with him being forced to walk to her location. It was obviously petty of her to find pleasure in such a trivial thing - hey, Analeis was not about to complain. Her hand raised slightly to wave back once got close enough to recognize the action and, before she could mutter a word, he was off with statements that included ‘honored’ and ‘babysit’. The more childish part of her wanted to use his head as target practice, but she sedated it by instead choosing to move into a standing position rather than leaning against her car door. It was clear that his reputation preceded him, something which was only confirmed by him inquiry about her possessing a shrine to him. ”I have to break it to you, but I’m just not that into you,” Analeis stated with a slight smirk, she wondering if this was just the tip of the arrogance iceberg. She would not be surprised to be honest. The pearl white vehicle suddenly chirped as Analeis unlocked the passenger door, she waving for him to get in.

”So Mister Fletcher thought it would be a good idea to start a ‘get to know your hometown’ project, hence why you’re here. I got clearance to visit sector four and seven since both of those have a decent mixture of minerals.” Her words were slightly muffled by the sound of her ruffling through the glovebox, she paying no mind to the fact that his legs were pushed off to the side as she tossed a map onto his lap. It would not take long for him to realize that she had given him a map of the quarry, each sector meticulously labelled with various notes that were a mixture of her own and that of her father. ”We can be out of here by three o’clock if we work quickly and before you ask, yes, I’m driving because your mom is worried that you’ll run off into a restricted area.” There was a clear smirk on the female’s face as she buckled her seat belt and backed out of the parking spot, she turning onto the main road. If they were lucky the whole ordeal would be harmless, but knowing that the part of sector four they were cleared for just happened to be next to where the cleanup site was… she had a feeling that this would eventually go straight to hell.

Ryan eyed the girl suspiciously for a moment, trying to decide if her words were true or not. A lot of girls claimed that they weren’t into him. That didn’t mean it was true. That didn’t stop them from trying to eat his face ten minutes later - not that he really had any complaints about any of that. Still, he blew off the denial with a casual shrug of his shoulders. ”It sounds really conceited of me to say something like that, I know…unfortunately I am speaking from past experience. Just had to make sure,” he explained to her. He was totally okay with the situation either way, though it would certainly be much more exciting if she wanted to hook up later. ”If you change your mind though, just let me know. It doesn’t hurt my feelings either way,” he added, amused.

Okay, so she wasn’t a certain, blonde cheerleader who apparently enjoyed spending her free time running on trails through the forest…but that was fine. It wasn’t as if she weren’t an attractive human. Ryan Reese had a great appreciation for such things. She was welcome to take that however she wanted. At the end of the day it would be her loss - not his. Oh yes, he was extremely full of it.

At her gesture, Ryan moved around to climb into the passenger side of the vehicle, frowning as he did so. ”You must really have the hook ups - getting to bring your car down here and all. They made me use a guest parking. It’s whatever I guess, it’s not like I’m 400 pounds and dread the thought of walking. Still, would have been nice to be able to come right down here,” he mused thoughtfully.

He was only half-listening as she rambled on about the objective of their project - or rather, his project. He’d only heard Fletcher ramble on about it like forty times now. He glanced at the map, curious about all of these other sectors that they were apparently ‘not cleared’ to visit. Where was the fun in that anyway? He bet that was where all of the exciting things were going on. He rolled his eyes at the mention of his mother. Why was she always such a killjoy?

”Clearly she knows me well. Still, I don’t get how I can fully appreciate the wonders of my home town quarry if I’m not even able to see half of it. I bet there’s some really exciting things around here - I’ve heard a lot of rumors. No one would have to know if we did a little exploring. I’m great at keeping secrets,” he told Analeis, flashing her the most innocent smile he could muster. Who didn’t like to have a little fun? Was she really that much of a stick in the mud? Ryan supposed he would find out. ”How did you get hooked up with all of this anyway?” he asked.
