This was the moment of truth. Alpha threw the breaker and the place lit up like a Christmas display. The Command Center was a thing of beauty, and finally done! Sure, it had taken a bit more work than what she and Zordon had planned, but it was worth it. Everything was super shiny and new and it all had working lights, and Alpha knew where just about everything was at.

At least...she did. When she had been working on electrical...a couple months ago. Now there were more buttons and knobs that she didn't remember hooking up, meaning that she didn't do it. "Um...ay yi yi..." Alpha muttered to herself, drumming her fingers on the edge of the console. She had wanted to get the scanners started up again, since everything had to be turned off so she could finish up the last of the electrical without short circuiting herself.

Her glasses reflected the lights as her eyes flicked over the board. What to do what to do. If the buttons didn't do what she thought they did, it could spell disaster before all of the rangers had been selected. She turned again and saw the panic panel. Oh. That was still the same then. Good. So trying out one of the buttons here wouldn't be catastrophic.

"Okay, okay...eenie, meenie...mo." Alpha pushed a button, and nothing happened. Which was good and bad. She was 82% sure that the scanner button was just a single hit one, but the screen was blank. This button was just glowing green now. Alpha tried another one in that row. Still nothing, and now a pink glow. "Oh come on! I know this was working earlier, I checked them all!" Third time had to be the charm, right, right?? One last button, a bigger, square one above the row with the green and pink.

That one did something. Pink and green lights flashed in the room around her, and Alpha looked around wildly before refocusing on the screen. Still. Blank. "Ay yi yi, why didn't I label these?! At least until I remembered where they all were!"

"Okay! Thirty more minutes! Everyone take a quick breather and we're back to second routine," the loud brunette called out as the cheer squad temporarily disbanded.

Mickayla followed the group of girls, dripping in perspiration from the heat and strenuous exercise. Cheerleading practice starting early sounded great in theory, what with this being her last chance to go with the squad into state competition. Possibly even national again if they could pull themselves together. Still, the heat was killer.

The blonde stepped off to the side, retightening her ponytail as she bent down to pick up her duffelbag. She'd just picked out the small hand towel and wiped her forehead before a bright pink light invaded her field of vision, too quick to react to or for anyone else to notice. The next thing the Pink Ranger knew was that she was standing in the Command Center in her sports bra, cropped tank, and spandex shorts. Not to mention looking fairly dishevelled from a nearly full day's worth of exercise.

Now, the thing about being both a high school student and a superhero was that neither was something that could be rescheduled for when it suited her. And then while neither was something that could be blown off, one of them decided the fate of the world and the other the fate of the rest of her life. Hard to weigh, but in the end, the world won out in priorities. Which is why Mickayla was way more concerned as to why Alpha would teleport without any warning. Not even the six-tone beeping on the communicator.

"Alpha, what's wrong?" Mickayla put away the towel into her duffel and immediately fished for her morpher. She hadn't even acknowledged who was beside her. The blonde was already focused on the task at hand. "Monster attack? Putties?" And yet, as concerned as Mickayla was, there was no denying that very subtle glimmer of hope as she asked. There was something about going to fight evil that really got her excited. The action of it all was addicting.

The guy was on him like a fly stuck to glue. Every turn he made, no matter how much his speed increased or decreased…the guy was just right there. It wasn’t something he was unused to, but it would always be something that made him want to just reach out and punch the other guy right in the face. That was just what football did to you. He cast a quick glance back over his shoulder, see the team’s quarterback standing out amongst the mound of clashing figures around him. They were starting to break through - he narrowly dodged a tackle from one. It was now or never.

As the ball left the quarterback’s hand, the young man downfield suddenly cut to the right, running horizontally across the field. The other guy was right on him, of course, but he was hardly paying attention to him - his gaze was set on the ball flying in a perfect spiral towards him. The throw was slightly too powerful. As it started to lose speed and altitude, he launched himself up into the air, his hands reaching out to take it into his arms. The other guy was attempting to knock him off balance, but he held strong. Securing the ball in his grasp, he juked back the other direction the moment his feet started to touch the ground again, urging his legs to move as fast as they possibly could.

The safety tried desperately to stay on him, but the sharp change of direction was something he hadn’t been prepared for. Soon it was just him and open field. The 30…the 20…the 10… TOUCHDOWN! Ryan Reese had done it again! It was but a small indicator of the amazing things to come as the season kicked off in a few weeks. The Angel Grove High football team had never looked better!

Ryan’s teammates and coaches applauded yet another fantastic play from their star wide-receiver, though the teenager only sought out the gaze of one coach in particular - his father. His dad gave him a nod of approval before calling the team back in to prepare to run the next drill. They had been at this for a couple of hours now and as the California heat beat down on the team, Ryan wished more than anything that it would be over soon. He loved football with all of his heart but summer practices in this heat would never, ever not be horrible.

With a sigh, he started to jog back down the field to rejoin his teammates. If he took too long, they’d be sprinting up and down the field and he definitely didn’t want to be the guy who caused everyone to go through that. Just because his father was the head coach didn’t mean Ryan would get cut any slack, that was for sure. He had scarcely made it out of the end zone when there was a sudden flash of green light and then…he was gone.

In the blink of an eye, Ryan was no longer on the football field but, rather, in the Command Center. It had only been a week since Ryan had first been transported here and met the floating head called Zordon who had informed him that he needed him to join his team of ‘Power Rangers’ and help save the world. He still wasn’t sure what to think about it all but there was one thing he was sure of: this random teleporting thing was going to get really old, really fast.

Clad in his grass-stained football gear, dripping in sweat, Ryan was looking rather out of place and disoriented as he took in his surroundings. ”What the hell?! Alpha! My dad is going to kill me when he realizes I mysteriously disappeared from practice!” he complained, relaxing slightly as he realized where he was. It was the voice of another, however, that really caught his attention. He glanced at the cheerleader and fellow Ranger standing beside him.

He thought it was odd that none of the others were there. Just him and Mickayla apparently. Surely they couldn’t be busy. Obviously being busy didn’t get you out of random teleportation. Otherwise he wouldn’t be here right now. So whatever this was about, clearly it wasn’t an emergency - despite what his feisty teammate clearly seemed to think. Not that he was an expert on any of this stuff, she definitely had more experience under her belt than him (though not much, from what Ryan understood) but…it was a logical guess, right? He removed his football helmet, a smirk appearing on his face. ”You know, if you want to go out with me, just ask. You don’t have to have Alpha go through all of this trouble - though really, I am flattered,” he said.

notes: *a wild reply appears!*
Alpha jumped and turned away from the huge dashboard of buttons and infuriatingly dark screen to see Mickayla and Ryan. "Oh hell..." So that button had been the teleporter. That was nice to know now. Except now she had two rangers she had just grabbed out of whatever they had been doing with their lives.

"Ay yi yi...um, there's a very, very good explanation for this..." Alpha turned back to the dashboard. "If these freaking things would work like they're supposed to!" she shouted at no one in particular. Zordon was somewhere else, probably trying to find the other teenagers qualified to be rangers.

Speaking of teenagers...she either needed to send them back to wherever they had been or actually get the scanner turned on, because the scanner was super important. For everything. And now Ryan was trying to flirt. Alpha turned around to look at the two of them again. Yeah, he really was. "What? Um, actually...oi..." Alpha rolled her eyes and turned back to the console. "Things have been rewired, and now buttons that I thought I knew did a certain command don't...and I teleported you guys. Which...at least now I know how to teleport you guys in when you need to come in?" There, a positive in this mess, especially because they both had obviously been busy with their actual, non ranger lives.

"In other news, you guys like the command center now that it's actually completely finished?" Cue the award for the most obvious subject change in earth history.
