Pre-Morphin' Time

More and more Alice was finding that she found solace in solitude. In that respect, the park was the ideal place for her to spend her time. She no longer had to run around doing ridiculous things with the other cheerleaders or listen to Chaz pretend to know everything about his stupid sports car. Best of all, she didn't have to deal with the looks and the whispering. In the park she could just be herself.

It was early afternoon and Alice had already spent a few hours jogging the trails and was contemplating going for a drive on a few of the trails. In the end, however, she gradually gravitated toward other people. Despite her aversion to crowds, she wasn't entirely an isolationist. Besides, the person she'd spotted across the open visitor area was dribbling a soccer ball.

When the ball went wide, Alice jogged to intercept it and with a flick of her foot, scooped the ball up and bounced it off the top of her foot and then her knee before catching it in the palm of her right hand. Walking toward the boy, she tilted her head slightly; he looked somewhat familiar but she couldn't quite place where she'd seen him. No doubt, since he was about her age, it was at school...but she couldn't bring to mind a specific class. Certainly he wasn't on the soccer team, she knew all of the boys on the soccer team; some would claim to know her more intimately that others.

"Hey." Alice said with a tentative smile as she held out the ball. She was never sure how people were going to act anymore. Which ones knew and which ones didn't...or more importantly which ones believed the vicious lies about her.

I'm looking for Alice's mother. She is one of those people that just can't seem to let go of her high school status. She went to L.A. to become a model and was slowly working her way up until she met Alice's father. He was a pro soccer player and they were married for about a year. He was injured and returned to Brazil shortly after Alice was born. Olivia moved back to Angel Grove where she met Ben, Alice's step-father and after a much longer courtship, the two were married. Olivia is now a real estate agent and is trying to relive her glory days by pressuring Alice to do the things she did; popular cheerleader dating the captain of the football (or in this case soccer) team. She doesn't really understand that Alice really isn't particularly interested and is only doing the things because she feels she has to for her mom to be happy. Right now things are a bit tense because either Olivia low key believes some of the rumors about her daughter or is upset about Alice exposing herself to such gossip.

Ben owns a garage and body shop in town. He's a fairly chill dude and balances out Olivia's almost neurotic tendencies. He's also bonded with Alice and supports her in whatever she's interested in. He's pretty excited that she shows an interest in mechanical things and is proud that she's actually quite good at science and math. He's not entirely sure what happened at Prom but he would never believe that his little girl (that's how he views Alice) would do anything that is being said about her. He's a good dad not only to Alice but his own child from a previous relationship and his youngest from his relationship with Olivia.

Alice's stepsibling is pretty up in the air. Gender is up for grabs as well as name and just about everything. Heck, even the relationship between Alice and her step sibling is up for discussion. They would be around the same age as Alice so between the ages of 16 and 18. They can either get along fantastically and be very close. Maybe they are just ambivalent toward one another. They could maybe even not get along very well at all. It all depends on what you're interested in. All is up for negotiation. The one thing that is a must is that they both adore their little brother Connor.

Learning to Live Again

Up until the end of her Junior year, Alice was one of the popular girls in school. She might not have been the queen bee but she was up there in rank. Dating the captain of the soccer team, on the cheer squad, on every court you could imagine. Then everything fell apart after her rather public split with her boyfriend after Prom. Rumors are circulating through town that aren’t exactly flattering for Alice and almost all of her friends have abandoned her in favor of her ex. She’s bitter and salty and trying to figure out what to do with herself.

Friends

After just having been betrayed by people she’d thought were her friends, Alice is a bit stand-offish. She isn’t going to be particularly trusting of people and will most likely be a salty, grumpy, sarcastic mess for a while. But for those who prove that they either don’t believe the rumors or those who prove they don’t care either way, she will be a loyal and surprisingly considerate friend.

Enemies

Basically at this point, anyone who has taken her ex-boyfriend’s side of the break up story as gospel. Any of the former friend crew that now lives to destroy her reputation, and just generic douchebags in general.

Lovers

So, when your boyfriend of just over a year cheats on you on Prom night because you refuse to join him in the motel room he rented and then spends the remainder of the year telling everyone that YOU cheated on HIM with half the soccer team and whatever else his side piece could come up with, you would probably be a bit wary of dating. Since this did happen to Alice, she has no interest in dating and actually treats any attempt to flirt with her as a potentially hostile or mocking act against her. Anyone who is genuinely interested in her is going to have to be patient and persistent in order to truly convince her that they aren’t a total tool.

Escapism is Life

Iris is a sweet individual. She loves her family's bookstore and is more often than not found there. Since opening the small cafe in the bookshop, she has really thrown herself into her hobby of baking and is prone to giving away as many bakery items as she sells. More or less she's always got her head stuck in a book, either history or romance or a combination of the both. While very smart in a knowledge based way, Iris is a bit naive when it comes to her interactions with people. She's very trusting and likes to take care of others so it's very easy for her to be taken advantage of.

Friendship

Because of her sweet and generous nature, I'm sure that there are a lot of people that she counts as friend who merely view her as an acquaintance. She'll basically greet everyone like a friend. It's really not too hard to be friends with Iris. Just put up with her awkward rambles about this book or that or this historical event or that. Anyone who can put up with her not being the best communicator is more than welcome.

Enemies

I'm sure that she irritates people but I don't really see her having actual enemies. She's far too forgiving to truly hate anyone. But I'm sure that if someone tried very hard she would considered being enemies.

Romance

Iris is a romantic at heart. Most of her notions about what a relationship should be are colored by various books and movies and are probably not the most realistic. She's had a few failed relationships so far in her life, mostly due to a combination of them not really understanding or tolerating her quirks, and also because she tends to expect people to be better than they are.

So many things had led up to the place where she was right now, staring at her phone and slowly scrolling through the comments on Facebook to her ex-boyfriend's relationship status change. People she'd never even spoken to before were weighing in on the break-up and of course everyone was believing the story that he'd told over hers. Why wouldn’t they though? Apparently none of the people she’d considered to be her friends had actually been her friends. They’d only stuck around because she was dating the captain of the soccer team or because she was popular and pretty and a cheerleader. The second any of that was put in question, she was nothing.

“I mean it’s not like I define myself by who I’m dating but…” Alice sighed and closed out facebook as her dark gaze skittered over a less than favorable comment about her morals. The most ironic thing about this whole situation? While she was painted a whore, she’d done little more than making out and the occasional fondling above the waist. In short, she was a virgin being crucified by her peers for supposedly cheating on the perfect, popular and definitely gorgeous captain of the soccer team.

The asshole had certainly played his part, pretending to be wounded by her supposedly callous treatment. Telling tales about how he’d been cruelly dumped by the beautiful but faithless wench. Of course that had lasted all of a week or two before he’d decided that he had to be strong and move on. Well, the rest of the school had moved right along with him and shut her out. Finishing out the year on the cheerleading squad had been an awkward mess, even a little dangerous. As a flyer she had to trust that she would be caught. By the end of the year, she wasn’t even sure that she trusted any of the others to carry her backpack, let alone catch her after tossing her into the air.

Switching to her amazon music account, Alice flicked through until she found a suitably intense music station and slid her phone into the arm band. Lifting her casted left hand, she sighed as she eyed the only two names on there. Her step-sibling and her little brother. A little over a month ago, her cast would’ve been entirely covered with signatures and doodles. Now the black plaster was all but pristine. Shaking her head, Alice pulled her bluetooth headphones over her ears and took off at a sedate jog.

The leisurely pace didn’t last long though, she needed to burn off some steam and push the feelings of betrayal and anger and hopelessness from her mind. All her life her mother had been pushing and prodding her toward this pinnacle of popularity only to have the platform she’d been standing on completely crumble beneath her due to some particularly vicious rumors. It wasn’t fair! In fact she wasn’t even sure some of the things that people were accusing her of were legal. Even her own mother seemed to be buying into the hype which only made things worse as there were now daily lectures about how she’d thrown everything away, and who was this other boy that was worth losing the captain of the soccer team?

“Well at least I don’t have to laugh at any of his basic ass jokes anymore.” Alice grumbled before cutting sharply to the left to cut down a few blocks. She wasn’t really sure where she was headed or even how far or long she would run but she just needed the physical outlet.

Abilities
Hand eye coordination is a skill that has served Alice well. She is also fairly athletic, loving to run and climb and just in general blow off steam by going fast and being active. Of course this is countered by her love of video games where she is more or less sedentary. She has passable soccer talent that is really just a result of her natural athleticism and coordination but has never showed much interest in it beyond a few pick up games here or there.

Alice is also quite mechanically inclined, having shown an interest in her step-father's career and more. Science and engineering are a passion and she has a fascination with space. Of course she keeps her nerdiness on lock down most of the time, only really opening up around family as there are certain expectations of the daughter of Olivia [insert name] and none of them include being a part of the robotics club, building computers or winning the science fair. Instead she is just supposed to cheer and date the hottest guy in school and win crowns at school dances.

Personality
To look at Alice is to make assumptions. She is undeniably beautiful and until very recently was a paragon of Angel Grove high. She dated the captain of he soccer team, was a cheerleader and before the upset this past summer, most likely to win homecoming queen. The perfect, pretty, princess. Friends with all the right people, dating the right boy, and none of them know the first thing about her. Not really, at least.

While she didn't play down her intelligence at school, she kept her enthusiasm for learning under wraps. You could do well in school and still be popular, but actually wanting to join an after school club that was academic was a bit much. But now that all of her hard work has fallen apart and there's no reason to keep pretending, some of Alice's more "quirky" habits are starting to show.

A closet lover of videogames, over the years Alice has made something of a name for herself in first person shooters, going by the handle MaxAMO. She's very careful about not revealing who she is or even her gender. She has a collection of gaming systems and games, favoring fps and similar games. She lives for cheeseburgers and loathes salads. When she's not forced to be cheerful and peppy, she's about as salty as brine and lives for sarcasm and puns, though she'd never tell her cousin the later because why encourage the kid?

Oh, she still looks and dresses like the popular girl that she's been for most of her high school career, but since falling from grace she's letting her less desirable traits, according to her mother, shine through. Ostracized from her former friend group, she's struggling to figure out where she belongs and even who she is. She's more than a little bitter about how her so-called friends turned on her and is quite defensive.

History
Alice's mother Olivia had always had aspirations of being a famous model and moved away from Angel Grove just after graduation with money and a few offers. Her dream career was on track as she steadily gained more and more notable gigs and shoots until everything was derailed by a ridiculously handsome Brazilian soccer player. His name was Alexio Carvalho and he'd been scouted by the San Jose Quakes. Their romance was a bit of a whirlwind, meeting at a club. One thing led to another and Alice's mom found herself young and pregnant. The two were married but it wasn't meant to last. Shortly after Alice's birth, Alexio suffered what would more or less be a career ending injury during a game. The marriage fell apart and when Alexio went back to Brazil to lick his wounds without his wife and child, Olivia took Alice back to Angel Grove.

With the support of her family, Olivia reestablished herself in her hometown and though her dreams of becoming a famous model had died with her marriage, she now had a beautiful daughter to raise. Thankfully her older siblings also had children and were more than willing to keep an eye on Alice when Olivia had to work odd hours at the 24 hour diner to make ends meet. However, when Alice was about three, after a string of car troubles, Olivia met Ben Richards, the honest, hard-working owner of a brand new garage in town. Unlike her first romance, the love between Olivia and Ben was a slower burning sort and resulted in marriage when Alice was about five. A single father himself, Alice gained a step-sibling who was around the same age as her. At the age of ten they gained a younger sibling as well.

Over the years, with coaxing and prompting from her mother, Alice became every bit as popular as Olivia had been when she'd attended Angel Grove High. Alice was popular and well liked, earning herself a position on the cheer squad her freshman year and becoming captain her junior year. However, not everything was perfect and not everyone was as true a friend as she might have hoped. Over the summer after her junior year, things fell apart rather spectacularly through a combination of sabotage and social media hype. When she refused to go all the way with one of the most popular boys in school, who also happened to be her boyfriend, he moved on to the girl she thought had been her best friend. The betrayal was devastating but what the pair did next was even worse.

Her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend teamed up against her and got everyone to believe that it had been Alice who had cheated on her boyfriend. Bringing into question her morals and more or less making her a laughing stock. No one in her group of friends believed her when she tried to defend herself and the rumors only got worse and more ridiculous as the summer passed, leaving Alice feeling isolated, depressed and angry. Of course it also gave her time to dominate the top score boards of some of her favorite games and explore various spots for running and climbing. Not really sure what will happen when school starts back up, Alice has mostly stuck to herself or the company of her cousins.
